Money going out, money coming in, why? Because of your automations. Run, run, run, get your flows live!
Sister Act II was one of my favorite movies growing up. I hope you enjoyed my remix!
But really, you can automate revenue with lifecycle marketing flows using email and SMS.
“Email flows are messages that send automatically to customers based on actions (like abandoning their cart), milestones (like anniversaries), or other triggers. Their purpose is to nurture customer relationships and encourage purchases.*”
What does this mean?
I’m glad you asked! Have you ever visited a site and a pop-up appeared asking for your email so you can receive a special offer? After signing up, you receive the welcome email with a special offer and usually a promo code.
Let’s say you don’t make a purchase. You most likely will receive a reminder email about your special offer. This may continue with several more emails in a sequence. Did you know, the lifecycle marketer more than not, automated these emails? Meaning they were set up in advance and aren’t actively sent by a person. They go out automatically based on the action you took of signing up, in a flow.
You finally decide to add a product to your cart and begin to checkout but you don’t complete the purchase and leave the site. An hour or two later, you receive an email asking where did you go, reminding you of the product(s) looked at and if you are ready to complete your purchase. This too is an automated email. You may also receive a text message if you signed up for SMS! You still don’t purchase and a day or two later, another email is sent to you urging you to complete your purchase.
Three months go by and girl, you still have not completed your purchase. What’s the hold up? Well, you shouldn’t be surprised when you receive a ‘Comeback, we miss you’ email or two. This too is an automated email or text message sent after a period of time.
It’s your birthday, and every brand is reminding you of it in your inbox. That’s the power of automation! Because you shared your birthdate at one time, you are now receiving a special offer via email and/or SMS.
The list goes on and on. Just imagine if you had 10 or more automations up and running at any given time. That’s easy money, all automated!
Some of the initial must-have flows include:
- Welcome Series
- Added to Cart Series
- Abandon Cart Series
- Browse Abandon Series
- Post-Purchase Series
- Winback Series
- Re-engagement Series
One quick note, don’t forget to optimize your emails and text messages, plus review performance of automations periodically. Just because you have an automation live, doesn’t mean you can’t improve it. A/B testing is a measurable way to do so!
We will dive further into some of the series listed above and breakdown some best practices in future posts!
